It's called Desolation wilderness

On our way to find out what California has to offer we found ourselves in the wilderness, a way to get in touch with the real California, the natural world, the wild west that is a throwback to what it used to be like. Under the stars we found ourselves entranced by stars and awed my endless mountain peaks.

Sun washed trees that had fallen over provided organic sculptures set against granite displays, really it is more like a natural museum.

Really though the spectacular nature of this wide open terrain happens in the dead of night, I light painted here and was able to capture the wonder of a wide open sky with minimal light pollution. She is pointing skyward at an infinity of universe that we can barely understand the magnitude of.

Taking it all in standing on the shore of one of the arms of the lake.
As the sun went down the lake became a mirror of silhouettes.
One more of a lone tree, growing from the granite I decided to light paint and contrast it against a night sky.

As you can see this place is anything but desolate, I hope one day you challenge yourself to make it out.
Hope you enjoy the pictures.
