Lake Tahoe at Eagle Falls

Had another wonderful trip to Lake Tahoe, hiking by day and dancing by night, if you have never been I suggest it, fall is a beautiful time of year. Although cold the area is simply amazing.

On the way up to eagle falls I spotted movement, at first I couldn't tell what it was, something like a worm slithering down the rock face, but when I came close I realized it was water moving under ice, which if you have never seen, is a really cool effect.
A small ravine setup an opportunity to capture some cool geometry provided by clouds, trees and a small ridge.
Alpine lakes are always beautiful, Eagle Lake sits above Lake Tahoe.
The grandeur of Eagle Lake could only be captured by getting higher, so I climbed an uncommon way which was a rock scramble all the way up, but as you can see well worth the extra effort.
Lower in the valley Eagle Lake provides water to multiple falls and cool wetland like environments, seasonal trees offer contrast to evergreens and bush branches provide another color depth.
As always, Lake Tahoe gives us one of the most impressive sunsets in the west as clouds get trapped by the Sierras and are lit up by the sun. Seen from Eagle Falls.
Water in motion, one of the falls heading back to tahoe on the way down the trail.

Aloha at night.

I wanted to share another post of Aloha lakes and the desolation wilderness near Lake Tahoe California. I have also noticed that the pictures uploaded on the blogger app do not do fulle resolution weird so I guess im back to hanging out at Starbucks to do blog posts, oh well cafeine is the spice of life. Cheers.

From the shore of the lake we backpacked too looking back toward the city, the yellow is the light pollution, I guess I need to go farther.
Straight up at the milky way.
Looking toward Tahoe less light pollution but still present.
Im still working on my astrophotos but it is very fun and worth freezing at night for, hope you enjoy the pictures, gonna find a new adventure soon.

It's called Desolation wilderness

On our way to find out what California has to offer we found ourselves in the wilderness, a way to get in touch with the real California, the natural world, the wild west that is a throwback to what it used to be like. Under the stars we found ourselves entranced by stars and awed my endless mountain peaks.

Sun washed trees that had fallen over provided organic sculptures set against granite displays, really it is more like a natural museum.

Really though the spectacular nature of this wide open terrain happens in the dead of night, I light painted here and was able to capture the wonder of a wide open sky with minimal light pollution. She is pointing skyward at an infinity of universe that we can barely understand the magnitude of.

Taking it all in standing on the shore of one of the arms of the lake.
As the sun went down the lake became a mirror of silhouettes.
One more of a lone tree, growing from the granite I decided to light paint and contrast it against a night sky.

As you can see this place is anything but desolate, I hope one day you challenge yourself to make it out.
Hope you enjoy the pictures.

Another look back at glacier point

Sometimes when I go somewhere like glacier point I shoot entirely too many pictures and sometimes they end up on memory cards I forgot I even shot them on. So here are a few I thought I would share.
On the outlook to halfdome, and impossibly beautiful view and Mother Nature gave a dramatic setting as she set up the rain clouds that would encircle the beautiful granite.
Another awesome little gem we found was a burnt out old tree that perfectly formed a natural frame.
Hope you have a great weekend adventure planned!! I'll post mine soon.

Glacier point

A lot of my pictures are in Yosemite, being so close to such a beautiful place, I find more often then not my weekends end up here. The photographic places are almost infinite!

A sunset with fog rising out of the Yosemite valley after raining all day. Standing here waiting to capture it was absolutely freezing, but as you can see worth it.
You can see rain moisture collected on this pine, right after this my camera went dead :(
This lone tree that had been burned over 49 years ago remains standing tall and contrasting against a sky that was about to dump rain on us. Behind you can see half dome completely covered in clouds.

Blogger on my phone

It's pretty awesome to be able to blog from my phone, I guess I'll be using this thing a lot more now. How about some more pictures?
A sunset near Arnold California what a fun time I almost got hit by a bunch of cars trying to take this one.
Another beautiful area near the stanislaus river.
